Dryer Makes Clothes Smell Funny

My dryer has been making my clothes smell funny lately. It’s not a great smell, and I’m not sure what’s causing it. I’m hoping someone can help me figure it out.

Thanks for posting your question! There are a lot of different things that could be causing your dryer to make your clothes smell funny. Can you give us some more details about what kind of smell it is? For example, is it a burning smell or a wet clothes smell?

It’s not really a burning smell - more of a weird, musty odor. I’m not sure how to describe it exactly.

If it’s a musty odor, that could be a sign of mold or mildew in the drum or seal of the dryer. Have you checked to see if there’s any visible mold or mildew in there?

I did check the drum and the seal, but I didn’t see any mold or mildew.

Another possibility is that there’s some trapped lint or debris in the dryer that’s causing the smell. Have you cleaned out the lint trap and the vent recently?

I haven’t cleaned out the vent or the lint trap in a while. I’ll give that a try and see if it helps.

Solution: Trapped Lint

After consulting with the technicians, it turns out that the issue was likely caused by trapped lint or debris in the dryer. I cleaned out the lint trap and the vent, and that seems to have resolved the issue - my clothes don't smell weird anymore!
